Beautiful in form, function and design, we love the Kalita Wave. Setting it apart from other pour over methods, is the flat-bottom filter. This allows for an even extraction during the brew process. It’s the brewer of choice for the coffee professional as well as the home barista, yet strong and sturdy design make it perfect for the road and a champion of the campsite.

1. Heat your fresh, filtered water to 200F (just off boil)
2. Place your filter in your Kalita Wave and rinse with hot water to eliminate any paper residue. Let the water drain into your mug. Discard your rinse water.
1. Grind 25g of coffee to a medium to fine size.
2. Pour your coffee grounds into your filter. Level your coffee grounds with a gentle shake.
Place your Kalita Wave and mug onto your digital scales. Tare to 0.
Use continual circular motions, starting in the centre, working your way to the edge of the coffee and then back in. Try not to pour water onto the filter itself.
Tare your digital scale to 0.
Start your timer.
0 – 15s: Pour 75g of water evenly over your coffee grounds.
15s – 45s: Watch the bloom in all its beauty, growing and expanding while forming a crust on top of the grounds.
45s – 3m: Pour another 325g of water in a circular motion. This can be done in 2- 4 increments. We prefer approx 75g of water at a time. When your timer reaches 2 - 3 minutes, you should have poured a total of 400g of water.
3m – 4m:Your water should have stopped draining completely.
Once most of the water has drained through into your mug, remove your Kalita Wave. Swirl your coffee and serve. Take your filter and grounds out of the Kalita Wave and compost if possible. Clean with hot water.
