A cowboy’s gotta be tough, and so does a coffee that carries its name. Veracruz Cowboy isn’t just another delicious brew—it’s part of a game-changing initiative, Aromas de Veracruz, designed to uplift small-scale coffee farmers, improve processing standards, and give quality beans the respect (and price) they deserve. ☕🌱
Veracruz is Mexico’s second-largest coffee-producing region, known for its volcanic soil, high-altitude farms, and rich coffee heritage. But even with top-tier coffee, many small farmers struggled to get fair prices, often leaving their beans unsold. Enter the Veracruz Coffee Strategy, a government-backed project that provides training, better post-harvest processing, and new market access.
As part of this effort, Veracruz launched the Aromas de Veracruz Coffee Competition, where coffees are blind cupped at the University of Veracruz and INECOL to identify the region’s best beans. The top 30 coffees move forward for awards and recognition, but many high-quality coffees scoring 84+ points don’t make it into the final selection. Instead of letting these incredible coffees go unsold, the Veracruz government subsidized their collection, storage, and cupping, ensuring they still reached the specialty market. These coffees—affectionately known as "dragged coffees"—are full of character and quality but often overlooked in traditional competitions.
And let’s talk about the coffee itself—because this one is a stunner. Rich and bold, with deep chocolatey notes, nutty complexity, and a citrusy brightness that makes it a total delight in every brew method. It’s the perfect coffee for those who like their morning cup smooth, strong, and full of character—just like a true cowboy. 🤠🔥
So, when you sip on Veracruz Cowboy, you’re not just enjoying a fantastic cup of coffee—you’re supporting small farmers, sustainable practices, and a project that’s reshaping the future of coffee in Veracruz. Pour yourself a mug, tip your hat, and taste the impact. ☕🌎💛
